1. Guimaras Headline Inflation
The headline inflation rate of Guimaras province moved faster to 0.5 percent in April 2025 from 0.2 percent in March 2025, bringing the provincial average inflation from January to April 2025 to 1.0 percent. The inflation rate for April 2024 was at 6.8 percent. (Figure 1)

Guimaras' food inflation further declined, reaching -2.1 percent in April 2025
The food inflation rate in Guimaras further declined to -2.1 percent in April 2025, down
from -0.9 percent in the previous month. This marks a significant drop of 9.5 percentage
points from the 11.6 percent recorded in April 2024. Since the beginning of the year,
San Lorenzo, Guimaras records 96.66% literacy rate
Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), 96.66% or 25,498
household population five years old and over in San Lorenzo, Guimaras were literate.
The literacy rate among females at 96.88% was higher than males at 96.46% or a gender
gap of 0.42 percentage points.
Guimaras’ corn production up by 17.32 percent in the first quarter of 2025
The total corn production in Guimaras for the first quarter of 2025 was estimated at 217.05 metric tons, reflecting an increase of 17.32 percent compared to the 185 metric tons recorded in the first quarter of 2024. Likewise, the total area harvested during the period was 125 hectares, a 31.58 percent increase compared to the 95 hectares recorded in the first quarter of 2024. See Table 1.
Guimaras’ literacy rate records at 97.05% on the average, higher among females
Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), of the 169,827- household
population five years old and over, 164,819 persons were literate or a literacy rate of 97.05% on
the average for Guimaras province, which is slightly higher among females (97.20%) than
males (96.91%). High literacy rates among female than male is true in all age groups.
Guimaras Records 3.65% Increase in Palay Production in Q1 2025
Palay production in Guimaras rose by 3.65 percent in the first quarter of 2025, reaching
an estimated 10,084 metric tons—up from 9,729 metric tons recorded during the same
period in 2024. This growth was accompanied by a 5.43 percent increase in the total
area harvested, which expanded to 4,331 hectares in Q1 2025 from 4,108 hectares in
Q1 2024 translating to 223 hectares expansion. See Table 1.
Sibunag records 96.99% literacy rate, females outrank Males
Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), 96.99% of the 20,890
household population five years old and over were literate in the municipality of Sibunag,
Guimaras. Females at 97.28% literacy rate outranked the males with 96.73% or a gender
gap of 0.55 percentage points.
