In the third quarter of 2024, the region's highest volume of major crop production was coconut. Compared to the same quarter last year, however, coconut production declined by 3.9 percent, from 142,057 metric tons to 136,549 metric tons. Similarly, decreases were noted for several other major crops: sugarcane (92.2 percent), banana (0.6 percent), sweet potato (0.6 percent), mango (1.1 percent), and calamansi (3.1 percent).
Western Visayas' headline inflation decreased to 3.2 percent in November 2024, from 3.9 percent in October 2024. The regional average inflation rate from January to November 2024 is 3.7 percent. In November 2023, the inflation rate was higher at 4.0 percent.
Carabao, Cattle, Hog, and Goat production in Western Visayas recorded decreases during the third quarter of 2024 compared with the same quarter last year. Carabao production declined by 5.8 percent in the same period, registering at 4,281 metric tons. Cattle production also recorded a decrease of 4.6 percent, or a production of 4,206 metric tons, compared to the previous year’s production of 4,408 metric tons.
Western Visayas' headline inflation increased to 3.9 percent in October 2024, from 3.4 percent in September 2024. The regional average inflation rate from January to October 2024 is 3.8 percent. In October 2023, the inflation rate was higher at 5.4 percent.

Two of the four livestock animal types in Western Visayas recorded decreases in
production during the second quarter of 2024 compared with the same quarter last
year. Hog production, estimated at 24,391 metric tons for the second quarter of 2024,
declined by 42.0 percent against the production of 42,026 metric tons in the
second quarter of 2023. Similarly, Goat production decreased by 17.6 percent, from
1,681 metric tons in 2023 to 1,385 metric tons in 2024
