The volume of production of Inland Municipal Fisheries in Guimaras recorded an increase in the 1st quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Total production grew from 6.76 metric tons in the first quarter of 2024 to 11.98 metric tons in the first quarter of 2025, marking a notable 77.22 percent year-on-year increase. See Figure 1.

By species, fish production showed the fastest growth, rising from 1.19 metric tons in the first quarter of 2024 to 4.99 metric tons in 2025. Crustacean production also increased significantly, from 0.65 to 4.63 metric tons.

In contrast, mollusk production declined from 4.92 metric tons in 2024 to 2.37 metric tons in 2025, a decrease of about 51.8 percent.

The fish category showed the highest growth, increasing by 319.33% from 1.19 metric tons in the first quarter of 2024 to 4.99 metric tons in 2025. Major contributors to this growth were catfish (Hito), which rose from 0.01 to 0.28 metric tons (2,700%), mullet (Kapak) from 0.03 to 0.90 metric tons (2,900%), and spade fish (Kitang) from 0.10 to 0.88 metric tons (780%). Tarpon (Buan Buan) and tilapia also posted increases.

The crustacean category also grew significantly by 612.31%, from 0.65 to 4.63 metric tons. The largest gain came from white shrimp (Hipong Puti), which jumped from 0.05 to 1.65 metric tons (3,200%), followed by mud crab (Alimango), up from 0.11 to 1.19 metric tons (981.82%). Blue crab (Alimasag) also contributed to the increase.

In contrast, the mollusk category dropped by 51.83%, from 4.92 to 2.37 metric tons. Both oysters (Talaba) and other mollusks declined, with the latter falling by 53.32%.

In the first quarter of 2025, the value of production from inland municipal fisheries in Guimaras reached ₱1,678.21 thousand, a significant increase of 324.58% from ₱395.26 thousand in the same period of 2024.

Among the commodity groups, fish recorded the highest value increase at 287.21%, rising from ₱146.78 thousand to ₱568.34 thousand. Notable gains were seen in catfish (Hito), which jumped from ₱0.86 thousand to ₱63.78 thousand (7,316.28%), mullet (Kapak) from ₱4.23 thousand to ₱143.86 thousand (3,300.95%), and

The crustaceans’ group which accounted for 61.18% of the total marine inland production also saw a large increase in value, rising from ₱133.13 thousand to ₱1,026.75, equivalent to a 671.24% increase. This was driven by strong growth in all species: white shrimp (Hipong Puti) from ₱10.00 thousand to ₱407.02 thousand (3,970.20%), mud crab (Alimango) from ₱29.53 thousand to ₱297.98 thousand (909.08%) and blue crab (Alimasag) from ₱40.00 thousand to ₱321.75 thousand (704.38%).

In contrast, the mollusks’ group declined by 27.94%, dropping from ₱115.35 thousand in 2024 to ₱83.12 thousand in 2025. Both oysters (Talaba) and other mollusks posted decreases in value.
