Negros Occidental’s Inflation Rate for all income households slightly rises to 2.3 percent from 2.2 percent in January 2024 and declines against February 2023 with 12.4 percent (Please see Figure 1). The increase was due to the slight hike in the year-on-year rate in the indices for some commodities like; Housing/Water/Electricity/Gas and Other Fuels at -5.7 from -7.2, Health at 2.5 percent from 2.2 percent, Recreation/Sports, and Culture at 5.7 percent from 5.5 percent and Personal Care and Miscellaneous Goods & Services at 3.4 percent from 3.2 percent.

Lower Inflation was noted in the indices for Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 3.7 percent from 3.9 percent, Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco at 7.2 from 5.1 percent, Clothing & Footwear at 2.0 percent from 2.3 percent, Furnishing/Household Equipment & Routine Maintenance at 5.2 percent from 7.0 percent, Transport at 0.1 percent from 0.5 percent, and Restaurants & Accommodation Services at 9.8 percent from 10.4 percent.

 

Relative to their annual rates in the previous month, these commodities retained their previous month's annual growth rate.

  1. Information & Communication,

  2. Education Services, and 

  3. Financial Services.

 

In Bacolod City, the Inflation Rate for Income Households also exhibited an increase to 3.1 percent from 2.5 percent in January 2024 and a decrease from February 2023 at 11.2 percent. (See Figure 2.).

The rise up was attributed to a slight increase in the indices of some commodities from January 2024; Clothing & Footwear at 9.3 percent from 6.5 percent, Housing/Water/Electricity/Gas and Other Fuels at -0.9 percent from -4.2 percent, Transport at 0.8 from - 1.4 percent, Information & Communication at 0.9 percent from 0.3 percent, and Recreation/Sports & Culture at 6.2 percent from 5.9 percent.

 

Relative to their annual rates in the previous month, lower inflation rates were observed in the indices of the following commodities: 

  1. Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages,

  2. Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco,

  3. Health,

  4. Restaurants & Accommodation Services, and

  5. Personal Care and Miscellaneous Goods & Services.

     

The indices of the rest of the commodities retained their previous months' annual growth rates.
