Hired Statistical Researchers with PSA Antique personnel during the Third Level Training on 2025 Fisheries Production Surveys in Caluya and San Jose, Antique.
To gather data on the volume and value of production of fisheries in the Province of Antique during the second quarter of 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Antique conducted the four Fisheries Production Surveys.
The Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS) and Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS) which is conducted once a week from April to June 2025, while the Quarterly Inland Fisheries Survey (QIFS) and Quarterly Aquaculture Survey (QAqS) will be undertaken from 16 to 27 June 2025.
The total fisheries production of Antique recorded in the first quarter of 2025 was estimated at 29,957.33 metric tons. The production increased by 16.88 percent or about 5,056.60 metric tons more than the reported volume of production in 2024 for the same quarter. The increase was attributed to the aquaculture and inland municipal subsectors with 29.16 percent and 20.41 increase, respectively. Conversely, marine municipal fisheries volume of production decreased by 24.02 percent and a 19.11 percent decreased was recorded for commercial fisheries in the first quarter of 2025.
On 10 to 11 June, PSA Antique personnel together with six hired statistical researchers (SRs) attended the training on 2024 Operational Training on Fisheries Surveys at PSA Antique Training Room, Eagle’s Hotel. These SRs will collect data from samples in all the municipalities of Antique except Caluya.
Moreover, on 03 June, PSA personnel trained ten SRs and one team supervisor in La Isla Resort, Caluya, Antique. The training focused on QAqS - Seaweeds Survey.
There are a total of 1,028 number of samples for QAqS and 822 from these are mainly in Caluya. For QMFS there are 10 samples, QCFS has eight samples, and 57 samples for QIFS.
The data collection is conducted through face-to-face interview by SRs. All fisheries surveys will utilize Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI).
