To gather data on the volume and value of production of fisheries in the Province of Antique during the first quarter of 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Antique conducted the four Fisheries Surveys: the Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS), Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS), Quarterly Inland Fisheries Survey (QIFS), and Quarterly Aquaculture Survey (QAqS). The enumeration is still ongoing from 18 to 31 March.
The total fisheries production of Antique recorded in 2024 was estimated at 121,630 metric tons. The production increased by 25.95 percent or about 25,059.41 metric tons more than in 2023 reported volume of production. The increase was attributed to the aquaculture, marine municipal and commercial fisheries subsectors with 23.11 percent, 59.82 percent and 7.65 percent increase, respectively. Conversely, inland municipal fisheries volume of production decreased by 8.19 percent.
On 12 to 13 March, PSA Antique personnel together with seven hired statistical researchers (SRs) attended the training on 2025 Operational Training on Fisheries Surveys at PSA Antique Training Room, San Jose, Antique. These SRs will collect data from samples in all the municipalities of Antique except Caluya.
Moreover, on 12 March, PSA personnel trained ten SRs in La Isla Resort, Caluya, Antique. The training focused on QAqS - Seaweeds Survey.
There are a total of 1,028 number of samples for QAqS and 822 from these are mainly in Caluya. For QMFS there are 10 samples, QCFS has seven samples, and 57 samples for QIFS.
The data collection is conducted through face-to-face interview by SRs. All fisheries surveys will utilize Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI).
