To gather data on the volume and value of production of fisheries in the Province of Antique during the fourth quarter of 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Antique conducted the four Fisheries Surveys: the Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS), Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS), Quarterly Inland Fisheries Survey (QIFS), and Quarterly Aquaculture Survey (QAqS).
The total fisheries production of Antique recorded in the third quarter of 2024 was estimated at 51,407 metric tons. The production increased by 107.64 percent or about 26,649.02 metric tons more than the same quarter of 2023’s reported volume of production. The increase was attributed to the aquaculture, marine municipal and commercial fisheries subsectors with 132.44 percent, 81.11 percent and 17.14 percent increase, respectively. Conversely, inland municipal fisheries volume of production decreased by 25.99 percent.

On 09 to 11 November, PSA Antique personnel together with six hired statistical researchers (SRs) attended the training on 2024 Operational Training on Fisheries Surveys at Eagles’ Hotel, San Jose, Antique. These SRs will collect data from samples in all the municipalities of Antique except Caluya.
Moreover, on 08 November, PSA personnel trained nine SRs in La Isla Resort, Caluya, Antique. The training focused on QAqS - Seaweeds Survey.
There are a total of 1,028 number of samples for QAqS and 822 from these are mainly in Caluya. For QMFS there are 10 samples, QCFS has seven samples, and 57 samples for QIFS.
The data collection was conducted through face-to-face interview by SRs. All fisheries surveys will utilize Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI).
