Guimbal, Iloilo – On July 11, 2024, an Awarding Ceremony of Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) Beneficiaries took place in Guimbal Municipal Hall, Guimbal, Iloilo. A total of 62 beneficiaries were awarded free Certificates of Live Birth in Security Paper (SECPA) during the event. Most of the awardees were Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community members from Sitio Igtuba, Barangay Camangahan, Guimbal, Iloilo.
The event was graced by notable attendees, including PSA Iloilo OIC Ma. Goretti M. Novilla, Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Jo Marie Temelo of the Municipality of Guimbal, MCR Percylette Quidato and staff, and Birth Registration Coordinators Nelyn C. Huyong and Janna S. Cajilig. Their presence underscored the significance of this project and its impact on the community.
During the ceremony, the members of the IP community delivered emotional messages of gratitude to PSA and the office of the Municipal Civil Registrar of Guimbal for their untiring efforts to provide services to their community. They also expressed how the BRAP has made them feel recognized and valued within the community. This has allowed them to avail free birth certificates for the elderly to use in availing their social pension, and children to use as a vital requirement in school. Their heartfelt words highlighted the transformative effect of the BRAP initiative, as it ensures their rightful identity and inclusion in societal processes.
The BRAP is a significant step towards providing essential documentation to underserved communities, ensuring they have access to various social services and opportunities. The awarding ceremony was not only celebrated by the beneficiaries but also reaffirmed the commitment of the authorities and stakeholders to support and uplift marginalized sectors of society.
