SAN REMIGIO, Antique — The Philippine Statistics Authority – Antique Provincial Statistical Office brought Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) services to hard-to-reach communities in the Municipality of San Remigio from 07 to 12 July 2025. This initiative aims to promote civil registration and ensure that every individual has access to legal identity and can avail government programs as one their rights as a Filipino.
Birth Registration Coordinator (BRC) Ember Grace F. Dioso personally went to four far-flung barangays: Walker on 07 and 12 July, Insubuan on 08 July, Panpanan I on 09 July and Panpanan I on 10-11 July, to conduct BRAP mobile registration. A total of 221 beneficiaries were already verified and had negative results, and 126 individuals (57 percent) complied with the requirements to undergo the registration process. Moreover, she listed an additional 277 residents to avail the said project.
Beneficiaries of the BRAP mobile registration will enjoy a range of free services and simplified processes aimed at making birth registration more accessible. These include the free and efficient registration of births, the free issuance of a PSA negative certification (or Certificate of No Record of Birth), and relaxed documentary requirements to accommodate more applicants, especially those who may have difficulty securing standard documents. Most importantly, upon successful registration, participants will receive a free PSA-issued copy of their birth certificate, ensuring they gain access to vital documents without financial burden.
The project was recognized as a “best practice” in the 2025 UN Economic and Social Commission in Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) report, “Progress made on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific after a Decade of Getting Every One in the Picture.”
