APRIL 2025, ANTIQUE


The inflation rate of Antique of decelerates further to -1.6 percent in April 2025, from -0.1 percent in May 2025. The recorded inflation rate in April 2023 was significantly higher at 6.7 percent.
The April 2025 provincial inflation rate was lower as compared to the national and regional inflation rates. The inflation rate in the Philippines further slowed down to 1.4 percent in April 2025, from 1.8 percent in March 2025. The national inflation rate in April 2024 was recorded at 3.8 percent. Further, the inflation rate in Western Visayas slowed down to 1.9 percent in April 2025, from 2.7 percent in March 2025. The inflation rate in Western Visayas in April 2024 was recorded at 4.1 percent.
The continuous deceleration in price levels of the province in April 2025 was mainly influenced by the shift in price indices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages at -4.1 percent in April 2025, from -1.6 percent in March 2025; Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 1.2 percent in April 2025, from 2.8 percent in March 2025; and, Transport at -3.0 percent in April 2025, from -2.3 percent in May 2025.

Further, price index for Health also exhibited a downward trend at 1.8 percent in April 2025, from 1.9 percent in May 2025.
Moreover, higher annual increments were recorded for the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Clothing and footwear, 2.2 percent; and,
b. Recreation, sport and culture, 3.1 percent.
The indices for the following commodity groups, however, showed no changes from its last month’s inflation rate:
a. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 1.3 percent;
b. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 1.9 percent;
c. Information and communication, 0.1 percent;
d. Education services, -3.3 percent;
e. Restaurants and accommodation services, 2.0 percent; and,
f. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, 2.9 percent,
The recorded inflation rate for food was recorded at -4.4 percent in April 2025, from -1.7 percent in March 2025. The food commodity group with the highest to food inflation was Cereals and cereal products at -16.6 percent in April 2025, from -14.0 percent in March 2025.
Further, downtrends on price indices were also observed for the following food commodity groups:
a. Fish and other seafood, 2.0 percent;
b. Fruits and nuts, 5.0 percent;
c. Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, -0.9 percent; and,
d. Sugar, confectionery and desserts, 2.1 percent.
Moreover, higher annual increments were observed for the indices of the following food commodity group:
a. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, 3.1 percent;
b. Milk, other dairy products and eggs, 4.3 percent; and,
c. Ready-made food and other food products, n.e.c., 3.3 percent.
The price index for the Oils and fats food commodity group remained unchanged at -0.1 percent in April 2025.
