The National Economic and Development Authority – Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Environment Staff (NEDA-ANRES) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) jointly conducted a focus group discussion (FGD) on February 24, 2025, at the Learning and Development Center, PSA RSSO VI. This activity is in support of the study “Optimizing the Use of RS in Rice Production Monitoring and Forecasting (OUR RiceMaF)” to discuss key aspects of rice production monitoring and forecasting using remote sensing technology.
The discussion focused on initiatives to harmonize different data sources, methodologies used in formulating rice supply estimates and projections, including the review and validation processes, gaps and limitations in these methodologies, and consultation and coordination with RS data providers and other data sources and users to improve the reliability of yield and production estimates and forecasts.
The FGD served as a platform for NEDA and PSA to exchange insights and recommendations aimed at improving data integration and accuracy in rice production monitoring.
