
In celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority - Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office (PSA-IPSO) successfully conducted a Virtual CRVS Training & National ID IEC Campaign on February 25, 2025. The activity aimed to equip hospital and Rural Health Unit (RHU) personnel with the necessary civil registration concepts, updates, and processes to enhance their roles in the proper documentation and registration of vital events.
Officer-in-Charge Jerry L. Dolutan opened the program with his welcome remarks, highlighting PSA’s commitment to strengthening civil registration systems and ensuring that hospital and RHU personnel are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge to fulfill their roles effectively.
The training covered key topics vital to improving the civil registration process in healthcare facilities. The following speakers led the discussions:
• Mary Grace D. Dorilag, Registration Officer IV of PSA RSSO 6, provided an overview of the Basic Concepts and Latest Updates on Civil Registration and gave detailed instructions on how to properly fill out the Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) and Certificate of Death, ensuring accurate documentation of vital events.
• Excel C. Tacasian, Registration Officer I of PSA Iloilo, introduced the Philippine Civil Registry Information System (PhilCRIS) and highlighted its vital role in modernizing civil registration especially in streamlining processes at the local level, enhancing data accuracy, and improving efficiency in civil registry operations.
• Franz Angelo Baquiano, Registration Officer I of PSA Iloilo, presented 2023 Vital Statistics in the Province and City of Iloilo, highlighting key statistical trends and their importance in policymaking and development planning.
• Junarie Kent Arillo, Information Officer I of PSA Iloilo, led the discussion on National ID Registration, emphasizing its benefits and the ongoing implementation.
Registration Officer II Jose Romulo J. Robles delivered the closing remarks, reinforcing PSA’s commitment to enhancing the civil registration system through continuous education and collaboration with healthcare institutions.
By providing essential training to hospital and RHU personnel, PSA Iloilo ensures the efficient, timely, and accurate documentation of births, deaths, and other vital events, supporting the country’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system. This initiative aligns with PSA Iloilo’s mission to make civil registration accessible, reliable, and inclusive for all Filipinos.
