The first part of the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System field operations – the Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) data collection and Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) listing commenced on the 6th of May 2024. The implementation of the BPQ data collection and the SFGP listing aims to collect information on the characteristics of the barangays such as the types of facilities and establishments present in the barangays, and to gather an initial list of service facilities and government projects that will serve as a reference in the actual geotagging operations of the 2024 PopCen-CBMS. In line with this, PSA Iloilo has conducted a 2024 PopCen-CBMS BPQ and SFGP Listing Orientation all over the cities and municipalities of Iloilo.

Each barangay was required to send a representative, preferably the Barangay Secretary, or any barangay personnel knowledgeable of their barangay’s data. The participants were asked to bring their Barangay Profile, Barangay Investments Plan, and Barangay Development Plan which will be the bases of their answers to the questionnaire. The briefing activity served as a workshop to capacitate the barangay personnel and to help them fully understand the data required in the questionnaires. This was done so that minimal errors would be found upon the collection of the questionnaires and to ensure that they submitted complete data.

Furthermore, an overview of the 2024 Popcen-CBMS was discussed and information regarding the upcoming Household Profile Questionnaire (HPQ) data collection was disseminated. It was reiterated in the said activities that the cooperation and support of the Barangay LGU is crucial for the successful implementation of the 2024 PopCen-CBMS.
