The second convening provided more information about the Census of Population (POPCEN) including the updated objectives of this year’s operations such as the updating of the inventory of the total population in the Philippines and updating the list of beneficiaries of government social protection programs among others.
The POPCEN will be conducted simultaneously with the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) wherein the census of households and generation of data at the local level will serve as a basis for targeting beneficiaries of government programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.

Furthermore, aside from updating the social registries of the national government, the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS will enable the LGUs to capture several factors that can be used for multi-dimensional poverty analysis, policy formulation, and economic development in cities and municipalities.
The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS will cover all barangays nationwide in every city and municipality with the enumeration set to begin on 15 July 2024 until 16 September 2024.
