22 February 2024 – Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental successfully hosted the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Provincial Quiz Bee eliminations at the PSA Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office (PSO). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the 19 contestants representing various cities and municipalities across the province in the three tightly contested rounds, each with ten questions.
The CRVS Provincial Quiz Bee is an annual event that aims to promote awareness and understanding of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) emphasizing its significance in governance, planning, and development among LCRO personnel. The participants engaged in a rigorous competition, showcasing their knowledge and expertise in CRVS-related topics, including vital event registration and statistics management.
Kabankalan City represented by Monalisa D. Tabujara emerged as the undisputed champion, displaying exceptional proficiency in civil registration throughout the competition followed by Bago City’s Keano Ross L. Saylo in second place, and La Castellana’s Sjemlyn M. Potato in third place.
The winners received a token of appreciation and a cash prize of PhP 3000.00 for the first place, PhP 2000.00 for the second place, and PhP 1000.00 for the third place. All other participants received a Certificate of Appreciation for joining the competition. The top 2 placers in the Provincial Elimination will represent the province of Negros Occidental in the Regional Championship on February 27, 2024 at Iloilo City.
Statistical Specialist II, Rezilyn Infante expressed her appreciation for the active participation of all the contestants and congratulated the winners on their outstanding achievement. She emphasized the importance of such events in nurturing the interest in CRVS and fostering a culture of data literacy and awareness. Moreover, Chief Statistical Specialist Mr. John F. Campomanes extended his gratitude to all the participating contestants for their active support in this activity.
