The economy of Capiz grew by 6.8 percent in 2023 from its 2022 level. This represents an increase of PhP 5.09 billion in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from PhP 74.38 billion in 2022 to PhP 79.47 billion in 2023. (Figure 1)

 

Of the 6.8 percent GDP growth of Capiz, Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles led the 16 industries in 2023 with 1.8 percentage points contribution. This was followed by Transportation and storage with 1.1 percentage points contribution.

In terms of growth, Accommodation and food service activities posted the fastest growth in 2023 with 20.8 percent. It was followed by Other Services with 19.6 percent, and Transportation and storage with 19.0 percent. On the other hand, Agriculture, forestry, and fishing declined by 0.8 percent. (Figure 2)
