Santa Barbara, Iloilo, 12 April 2024 – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo successfully handed over the Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Barbara. It was personally received by the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Dennis S. Superficial which was awarded by PSA, Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) Chief, Marlene Y. Alviar together with the Officer-in-Charge of PSA Iloilo, Ma. Goretti M. Novilla, and CBMS Focal Person, Stephen A. Araña. The event took place in Mayor’s Conference Room in the Municipal Hall of the said LGU.
SOCD Chief Alviar, in her opening address, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the Local Government Unit of Santa Barbara for their unwavering support in the successful implementation of the CBMS within their jurisdiction. She underscored the pivotal role of CBMS in furnishing comprehensive and accurate data indispensable for crafting effective programs and policies. Additionally, she highlighted the potential for LGU Santa Barbara to garner honors and acclaim for its commitment to data-driven governance.
Senior Statistical Specialist (SSS) Stephen C. Araña presented the key findings, encompassing vital areas such as access to electricity, internet connectivity, water supply, sanitation facilities, public safety, food security, and disaster preparedness. The CBMS operations meticulously covered 61,778 individuals across 60 barangays in Santa Barbara, with 16,027 households participating in the survey.
Municipal Mayor, Honorable Dennis S. Superficial, extended his gratitude to the Philippine Statistics Authority in his acceptance speech. He underscored the indispensable role of statistics in informed decision-making processes. Furthermore, he emphasized the invaluable contribution of the gathered information towards the holistic development of Santa Barbara as a progressive municipality.
