Pavia, Iloilo, 12 April 2024 - Ensuring the commitment to produce disaggregated and accurate information at the local level, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo has successfully turned over the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data to the Local Government Unit of Pavia, Iloilo. The event took place at the Executive Hall, Mayor’s Office of the municipality on 12 April 2024. This demonstrates PSA’s continuous commitment to deliver accurate, and trustworthy data, supporting evidence based development planning and policy making.
Among the officials in attendance were the following: Municipal Mayor Hon. Laurence Anthony G. Gorriceta, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Mabel E. Paches, Data Protection Officer Desigante Welalie Cloven Lasaleta, SOCD - Chief Statistical Specialist Marlene Y. Alviar, and PSA Iloilo (Supervising Statistical Specialist) Officer-in-Charge Ma. Gorretti M. Novilla. Also in attendance were the Department Heads, and other PSA and LGU personnel.
Opening the ceremony, SOCD Chief Marlene Y. Alviar expressed her sincere gratitude to the local government of Pavia for accepting the challenge of implementing the CBMS. Additionally, she stated that the data gathered from CBMS will be helpful to the LGU in creating programs and policies that could help in the progress of the municipality. A total of 18 barangays in Pavia were covered in the CBMS operations, with 17,492 responding households and a total of 68,073 individuals covered. Senior Statistical Specialist Stephen C. Araña presented the highlights of the results from the Household and Barangay Profile Questionnaire which includdes the data about basic services such as electricity, internet, water, toilet facilities, safety, food insecurity, and disaster preparedness. Municipal Mayor, Hon. Laurence Anthony G. Gorriceta delivered his acceptance message and thanked the PSA for spearheading and providing constant guidance during the CBMS implementation. He commended all the enumerators who have been part of this endeavor for their effort, perseverance, and dedication in ensuring reliable data. Also, he added that this turnover marks the successful completion of the rigorous data collection process which is vital in addressing the concerns of the municipality and will help in drafting future plans.
