Ensuring the commitment to produce disaggregated and accurate information at the local level, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo has successfully turned over the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data to the Local Government Unit of Mina, Iloilo. The commemorative activity took place at the SB Session Hall of the said municipality on the 30th of January 2024. This important action highlighted PSA’s continuous commitment to providing accurate and reliable data, hence promoting development planning and policies based on evidence.
Among the officials in attendance were Hon. Municipal Mayor Lydia E. Grabato, Hon. Municipal Vice Mayor John Michael T. Defensor, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Jose Francis F. Lego, Data Protection Officer Stephany Seloterio-Baradas, PSA RSSO VI (Chief Statistical Specialist) Officer-in-Charge Nelida C. Amolar, and PSA Iloilo (Supervising Statistical Specialist) Officer-in-Charge Ma. Gorretti M. Novilla.
Senior Statistical Specialist Stephen C. Araña presented the highlights of the results from the Household and Barangay Profile Questionnaire. The presentation included data about basic services such as electricity, internet, water, toilet facilities, safety, food insecurity, and disaster preparedness. The CBMS covered 9 barangays of Mina with 2,975 responding households with a total of 11,472 individuals covered.
Hon. Municipal Mayor Lydia E. Grabato delivered her acceptance message and expressed her gratitude to the PSA for funding the 9 barangay for the CBMS rollout of the Municipality of Mina. She emphasized the importance of the CBMS data in alleviating poverty in their municipality and also added that with the help of the data that was turned over, they could target the beneficiaries, implement proper plans and programs, and enhance the proper management of the LGU.
