The economic performance of the region is measured annually using the
production approach or the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and
expenditure approach or the Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure (GRDE). GRDP
is the monetary value of all the final good and services produced in the region in a
given period. Meanwhile, GRDE is defined as the sum of all the final uses of goods
and services by residents of the region in the domestic territory plus their expenditures
in other regions, including the rest of the world and the rest of the Philippines.
The economy of Western Visayas grew by 4.3 percent in 2024, valued at
641.76 billion pesos. The 2024 growth is slower than the 6.8 percent recorded in 2023.

Performance of the Regional Economy of Western Visayas, as measured by the Gross
Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure
(GRDE).
The discussion focused on the region’s preliminary Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSA)
estimates, specifically on data collection efforts and its challenges. The group also looked at ways to
improve data-sharing and coordination among TWG member agencies involved in collecting and
compiling of tourism statistics.
The headline inflation in Western Visayas remained at 2.7 percent in March 2025, similar to
the annual growth rate recorded in February 2025. The regional average inflation from
January to March 2025 is 3.0 percent. Inflation in March 2024 was posted at 3.1 percent.

27 May 2025– Guimaras. Residents of Guimaras actively updated their Philippine Identification
System (PhilSys) records in April 2025, with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras
processing 62 demographic updates at the Fixed Registration Center (FRC) in San Miguel,
Jordan.
All provinces contributed to the increase in the number of establishments in the region from
73,715 in 2021 to 85,644 in 2023. By province, the number of establishments in operation in
Negros Occidental (including Bacolod City) grew by 9.1%, increasing from 30,417 in 2021 to
33,200 in 2023. Similarly, Iloilo (including Iloilo City) had significant growth, rising by 13.6%
from 23,230 establishments in 2021 to 26,395 in 2023.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) by virtue of Republic Act 10625, also known
as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, is mandated to conduct all national censuses and
surveys, sectoral statistics, consolidation of selected administrative recording systems and
compilation of national accounts. As the statistical arm of the Government, the PSA will again
conduct the 2024 ASPBI and 2024 SICT starting 21 April 2025. These surveys are designated
statistical activities of the PSA to generate essential statistics for economic planning and
analysis.
