Livestock production in Western Visayas for the first quarter of 2023 generally increased compared with the same quarter last year. Carabao production estimated at 3.89 thousand metric tons grew by 0.28 percent against last year’s production. Cattle production went up by 1.83 percent in the first quarter of 2022, at 4.70 thousand metric tons from 4.62 thousand metric tons. Estimated Hog production was recorded at 52.88 thousand metric tons, an increase of 7.80 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Similarly, Goat production recorded a growth of 14.19 percent
The total palay production of Western Visayas in the first quarter of 2023 was estimated at 667,020.89 metric tons (MT). It increased by 3.21 percent or 20,732.41 MT more compared with the same quarter of 2022. Likewise, the total area harvested in the first quarter of 2023, estimated at 202,370.00 hectares (ha) was 1.72 percent higher compared with the same quarter last year
The total corn production of Western Visayas in the first quarter of 2023 was estimated at 109,876.20 metric tons (MT) which was -2.71 percent less than the previous year’s corn production. However, the region’s recorded total area harvested was 32,439.70 hectares (ha) which was 1.42 percent more than the area harvested in 2022 of the same period
