Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Service Office VI (PSA RSSO VI) joins the celebration of this significant event in different parts of the region. On 25 October 2023, a mass wedding was organized in the municipality of Leganes, Iloilo which was participated by twenty-nine (29) couples.
Guimbal, Iloilo — In a resounding display of commitment to public service, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VI (PSA-RSSO VI) actively participated in the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) hosted at Guimbal National High School, Guimbal, Iloilo, from December 9 to 10, 2023. This collaborative effort brought together 53 government agencies, collectively offering over 160 programs and services aimed at streamlining access to essential information and resources for the community.

(PSA RSSO VI) announces the conduct of the 2023 Western Visayas Agriculture and Fisheries Dissemination Forum on 15 December 2023 (Friday) at 1:00 PM to be held at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
The economy of Western Visayas was valued at 955,016,701 pesos in 2022 and exhibited a growth rate of 9.3 percent, making it the fastest-growing region in the country. Furthermore, Western Visayas is one of the regions that recorded growth rates surpassing the national growth at 7.6 percent.
Western Visayas headline inflation or overall inflation slowed down further to 4.0 percent in November 2023, from 5.4 percent in October 2023. The inflation rate in November 2022 was higher at 9.6 percent. Regional average inflation from January to November 2023 is at 7.2 percent.
Two of the four livestock animal types in Western Visayas recorded increases in production during the third quarter of 2023 compared with the same quarter last year. Carabao production, estimated at 4,542.83 metric tons, grew by 9.7 percent against last year’s production. Similarly, Goat production increased by 10.4 percent, or at 1,656.11 metric tons.
All provinces and highly urbanized cities (HUCs) in Western Visayas continued to expand in 2022, with the province of Aklan recording the fastest growth of 22.5 percent. The City of Bacolod, and the City of Iloilo posted annual growths of 9.8 percent, and 9.6 percent, respectively. These three economies posted annual growths faster than the regional growth of 9.3 percent. Meanwhile, the rest of the provinces in the region also registered positive growths.
The total fisheries production of Western Visayas in the third quarter of 2023 was estimated at 87,661 metric tons. The production decreased by 3.9 percent or about 3,554 metric tons less from the same quarter of 2022’s reported volume of production. The decrease was attributed to the commercial and municipal fisheries sectors with negative 9.4 percent and 9.6 percent, respectively. On the other hand, aquaculture fisheries increased by 1.5 percent.
The total corn production of Western Visayas in the third quarter of 2023 was
estimated at 129,176 metric tons (MT) which was 6.7 percent lower than the previous year’s third quarter corn production. Similarly, the region’s recorded total area harvested was 38,692 hectares (ha) which was 13.4 percent less than the area harvested in 2022 of the same period
