Negros Occidental’s December 2024 Inflation Rate for all income households slightly rise to 3.7 percent with 3.6 percent Year-to-Date inflation.
Bacolod City exhibited a decline to 2.4 percent with 4.0 Year-to-Date inflation.
Negros Occidental’s Inflation Rate for all income household rise to 3.7 percent compared to previous month’s rate of 3.0 percent and also against December 2023 with 3.5 percent (Please see Figure 1).
Some commodities noted to have a positive annual growth rate like; Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 2.9 percent from 2.6 percent in November 2024, Alcoholic beverages & Tobacco at 3.5 percent from 2.3 percent, Clothing & Footwear at 5.8 percent from 5.7 percent, Housing/Water/Electricity/Gas & Other Fuels at 4.2 percent from 2.2 percent, and Transport at 0.3 percent from -1.9 percent. While, these commodities manifest a negative growth rate in December 2024; Furnishing/ Household Equipment & Routine Household Maintenance with 2.5 percent form
3.3 percent, Health with 3.2 percent from 3.8 percent, and Personal Care, & Miscellaneous Goods and Services with 2.7 percent from 2.9 percent. (See Figure 2)
The indices of the rest of the commodities retained their previous months’ annual growth rates.

In Bacolod City, the Inflation Rate for All Income Households declined to 2.4 percent in December 2024 from 2.7 percent in November 2024 and also against last year December 2023 at 4.0 percent. (See Figure 3.). The decline in inflation rate was attributed by a slight decrease in the indices of some commodities like; Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 1.2 percent from 2.9 percent in November 2024, Housing/Water/Electricity/Gas and Other Fuels at -0.5 percent from -0.2 percent, health at 4.0 percent from 4.2 percent, and Recreation/ Sports & Culture at
3.5 percent from 3.9 percent.
Relative to their annual rates in the previous month, higher inflation rates were observed in the indices of the following commodities: Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco at 4.3 percent from 1.5 percent, transport at -0.4 percent from -2.6 percent, and Personal Care and Miscellaneous Goods & Services at 4.9 percent from 4.8 percent.
The indices of the rest of the commodities retained their previous months’ annual growth rates.

Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages inflation, in Negros Occidental’s monthly increases in the seasonally adjusted CPI for December 2024 resulted to an increase in inflation at 2.9 percent from 2.6 percent in November 2024 and decrease against December 2023 at 6.9 percent. Bacolod City noted a decrease of food inflation at 1.2 percent from 2.9 percent in November 2024 and against last year of the same month with 8.0 percent.
Negros Occidental’s Annual growth rate for the seasonally adjusted Consumer price Index (CPI) for December 2024, exhibited an increase in some food commodities like; Corn at 5.0 percent from 4.9 percent, Fish & Other Seafoods at -8.8 percent from -9.9 percent, Milk/Other Dairy Products and Eggs at 7.6 percent from 7.2 percent, Vegetables/tubers/cooking bananas and pulses at -1.7 percent from -3.7 percent, Sugar/Confectionery & Desserts at -1.8 percent from -2.9 percent, and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 3.6 percent from 3.1 percent.
Annual rates of decreases were recorded in the following food commodities like: Cereals and Cereals Products at 9.9 percent from 10.3 percent, Cereals (Rice) at 12.4 percent from 13.0 percent, Flour, Bread and Other Bakery Products, Pasta Products and Other Cereals at 1.5 percent from 1.7 percent, Meat and Other Parts of Slaughtered Land Animals at 2.6 percent from 2.7 percent, Fruits & Nuts at
2.3 percent from 2.9 percent, and Ready-Made Food and Other Food Products N.E.C. at 2.4 percent form 4.3 percent. (See Table 3)
InBacolod City,Annual rates of decrease on Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages for December 2024 were recorded in some commodities that trigger in the downward trend on year-on-year inflation rate like; Cereals & Cereal Products at 4.2 percent from 8.0 percent, Cereals (Rice) at 5.2 percent from 10.7 percent, Meat and Other Parts of Slaughtered Land Animals at 0.5 percent from 1.2 percent, Fish and Other Sea foods at -2.2 percent form -2.1 percent., Milk, Other Dairy Products and Eggs at 3.2 percent from 4.4 percent, Oils & Fats at -5.2 percent from -5.3 percent, Vegetables/Tubers/Cooking Bananas and Pulses at -0.5 percent from 0.2 percent, Sugar, Confectionery and Desserts at -2.0 percent from -2.5 percent, Ready-Made Food and Other Food Products N.E.C. at 4.5 percent from 4.9 percent, and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 3.6 percent from 3.9 percent.
Annual growth rates showed an increase on the following commodities: Cereals (Corn) at 3.0 percent from 1.9 percent, and Fish and Other Sea foods at -2.2 percent form -2.1 percent.
The indices of the rest of the food commodity groups still retain their annual growth rates from the previous month.
Non-Food Inflation for December 2024, Negros Occidental slightly rise up to 4.3 percent from 3.4 percent in November 2024. The hike was due to the increase of prices in some commodities like; Clothing & Footwear, Housing/Water/Electricity/Gas & Other Fuels, and Transport. Bacolod City, also posted an increase at 3.0 percent from 2.7 percent in November 2024 this were due to the annual year-on-year upward trend in the indices of some commodities like; Transport, and Personal Care & Miscellaneous Goods & Services. (See Table 5).
