1. Headline Inflation
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental conducts Press Conference on the April 2025 Inflation Report on 14 May 2025 (Wednesday), at the PSA Negros Occidental Provincial Statistics Office (PSO). PSA Negros Occidental Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) Jerome C. Cadayona serves as the resource person for the event.
A. Negros Occidental
Highlights of the press conference covers the Headline Inflation Rates for All Income Households in Negros Occidental decreased at 2.1% in April 2025 from 2.8% in March 2025. In April 2024, the inflation rate was posted at 4.4% (Please see Table 1 and Figure 1).
The following commodity groups were the top three main sources to the deceleration of the April 2025 overall inflation for All Income Households in Negros Occidental:
a. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 1.3% inflation in April from 2.3% inflation in March 2025, with 28.7% share,
b. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 2.7% inflation in April from 4.0% inflation in March 2025, with 20.1% share,
c. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 7.9% inflation in April from 6.3% inflation in March 2025, with 14.9% share
Meanwhile, the following commodity groups were the top three major contributors to the April 2025 overall inflation for All Income Households in Negros Occidental:
a. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 1.3% inflation in April from 2.3% in March 2025, with 54.0% share,
b. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 2.7% inflation in April from 4.0% in March 2025, with 26.8% share,
c. Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 1.9% inflation in April from 3.5% in March 2025, with 14.3% share
On the other hand, higher inflation rates were observed in the indices of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 7.9% from 6.3%, Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance at 2.1% from 1.8%, Health at 3.7% from 3.1%, and Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 2.1% from 1.9%. A reference deriving out of the data generated April from March 2025, respectively.
Also, lower inflation rates were observed in the indices of Clothing and Footwear at 5.4% from 5.6%, and Transport at -1.0 from -0.6. A reference deriving out of the data generated April from March 2025, respectively.
The indices for the rest of the commodity groups retained their respective previous month’s inflation, such as Information and Communication at 0.0%, Recreation, Sport and Culture at 3.1%, Education Services at 18.4%, and Financial Services at 0.0%.

B. Bacolod City
Further, the Headline Inflation Rates for All Income Households in Bacolod City decreased at 2.2% in April 2025 from 3.5% in March 2025. In April 2024, the inflation rate was posted at 3.9% (Please see Table 1 and Figure 2).
The following commodity groups were the top three main sources to the deceleration of the April 2025 overall inflation for All Income Households in Bacolod City:
a. Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 6.1% inflation in April from 7.1% inflation in March 2025, with 22.8% share,
b. Education Services at 14.9% inflation both in April and March 2025, with 21.6% share,
c. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 1.3% inflation in April from 2.0% inflation in March 2025, with 19.6% share.
Meanwhile, the following commodity groups were the top three major contributor to the April 2025 overall inflation for All Income Households in Bacolod City:
a. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 1.2% inflation in April from 4.6% inflation in March 2025, with 59.9% share,
b. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 1.3% inflation in April from 2.0% inflation in March 2025, with 17.9% share,
c. Transport at -3.5% inflation in April from -1.5% inflation in March 2025, with 13.5% share.
On the other hand, higher inflation rate was observed in the indices of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco 6.1% from 5.9%. A reference deriving out of the data generated March from February 2025, respectively.
Also, lower inflation rates were observed in the indices of Clothing and Footwear at 5.9% from 6.2%, Recreation, Sport and Culture at 4.9% from 5.0%, Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 6.1% from 7.1%, and Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 5.0% from 5.4%. A reference deriving out of the data generated March from February 2025, respectively.
The indices for the rest of the commodity groups retained their respective previous month’s inflation, such as Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance at 1.9%, Health at 5.1%, Information and Communication at 0.4%, Education Services at 14.9%, and Financial Services at 0.0%.
