Inflation rate in the province of Antique was recorded at -1.3 percent in May 2025, from -1.6 percent in April 2025. The recorded inflation rate of Antique in May 2024 was significantly higher at 5.7 percent. The year-to-date inflation rate as of May 2025 was -0.1 percent.

The May 2025 provincial inflation rate was lower as compared to the national and regional inflation rates. The inflation rate of the Philippines decreased to 1.3 percent in May 2025, from 1.4 percent in April 2025. The national inflation rate in May 2024 was higher at 3.9 percent. Moreover, inflation rate of Western Visayas decreased to 1.5 percent in May 2025, from 1.8 percent in April 2025. The regional inflation rate in May 2024 was also higher at 4.3 percent.

The province’s inflation rate in May 2025 was mainly influenced by the annual increase in the indices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages at -3.2 percent in May 2025, from -4.1 percent in April 2025; Restaurants and accommodation services at 2.7 percent in May 2025, from 2.0 percent in April 2025; and, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 2.5 percent in May 2025, from 1.9 percent in April 2025. 
 

Further, higher annual increments were also observed for the following commodity groups:

a.    Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 1.5 percent; and,
b.    Clothing and footwear, 2.6 percent.

However, slower annual increments were observed for the following commodity groups:

a.    Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 0.8 percent;
b.    Transport, -4.1 percent;
c.    Information and communication, 0.0 percent;
d.    Recreation, sport and culture, 2.9 percent; and,
e.    Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, 2.7 percent.
 

The indices for the following commodity groups showed no changes from its last month’s inflation rate:

a.    Health, 1.8 percent; and,
b.    Education services, -3.3 percent.

The recorded food inflation rate in Antique recorded to -3.5 percent in May 2025, from -4.4 percent in April 2025. The food commodity with the highest share to the food inflation trend was Fish and other seafood at 9.2 percent in May 2025, from 2.0 percent in April 2025.

Further, higher annual increments were also observed for the following commodity groups:

a.    Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, 4.5 percent;
b.    Milk, other dairy products and eggs, 4.6 percent;
c.    Oils and fats, 0.2 percent;
d.    Fruits and nuts, 5.5 percent; and,
e.    Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, 0.7 percent.

Moreover, slower annual increments were recorded for the following food commodity groups:

a.    Cereals and cereal products, 18.3 percent;
b.    Sugar, confectionery and desserts, 1.5 percent; and, 
c.    Ready-made food and other food products n.e.c., 2.8 percent.
