26 April 2024 – GUIMARAS. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office successfully implemented the Philippine Identification System (National ID) registration of children 1-4 years old in the province with a total of 716 registrants as of March 31, 2024, since its operation officially started in February of the current year.

“A total of 1,456 individuals were added to the list, as of March 31, 2024, of which, 716 or 32.97% were children aged 1-4 years,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

Of the 716 children 1-4 years old PhilSys registered, 36 registrants came from Buenavista, 304 from Nueva Valencia, 104 from Jordan, 184 from San Lorenzo, and 88 from Sibunag.

“This service is part of the PSA’s efforts to get more Filipinos registered with the PhilSys, including minors,” Losare said.

Losare further explained that to register children 1-4 years old, a PhilSys-registered parent or guardian needs to be present.

“The child’s PhilSys number or permanent identification number will be linked to the accompanying parent or guardian”, Losare said.

“For the registration, the accompanying parent or guardian will need to present supporting documents to validate the child’s demographic information,” Losare added.

She also highlighted that the registrants may present any of the following documents, a certificate of live birth issued by PSA or by a Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO); a report of birth issued by the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post; a certificate of foundling issued by the PSA, and certificate of foundling or certificate of live birth of persons with no known parent/s issued by the PSA.

Parents or guardians may also present the child’s municipal form 102; Philippine passport or e-Passport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs; or any document showing the full name of the child, date, and place of birth, the full name of the mother, and the full name of the father, if acknowledged.

“Upon authentication of demographic information, a front-facing photograph of the child will be taken,” Losare said.

“Other biometric information including the fingerprints, iris scan, and the updated front-facing photograph will be captured when the child turns five years old,” she added.

Losare pleaded to all parents and guardians to support this undertaking by registering to PhilSys their children aged one to four, a step towards the new Philippines for the succeeding generation.

“The PSA Guimaras will continue its PhilSys registration activities in the province, thus the fixed registration center (FRC) will remain open to walk-in registrants, while the mobile team will continue to visit and register those residing in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas or have no means to visit any registration centers,” Losare said.
