PhilSys Antique team rode a boat to reach the island barangay of Maniguin to register the residents in the National ID system on 20 October 2024
As part of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) initiative, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Antique brought National ID services to residents of Brgy. Maniguin Island, Culasi, Antique on 20 October. A total of 102 individuals were registered in the National ID system, 47 ePhilIDs were issued on the same day of registration, and eight digital National IDs were successfully generated.
Brgy. Maniguin is one of the island barangays in Culasi. However, the island’s geographic location poses challenges, particularly regarding access to essential services. Travel from the mainland involves boat rides that can vary in duration based on sea conditions, making it difficult for residents to access opportunities and support.

The event was significant for the local community, which has an estimated 182 households and a population of 890. The hard work of the team ensured that important services reached this remote area. The successful registration underscores the commitment to providing national IDs and improving the lives of Filipinos.
Furthermore, the PhilSys team has visited all 590 barangays in Antique, marking a significant achievement in their outreach efforts. With Maniguin Island being the final barangay visited, this milestone underscores the team's dedication to ensuring that every Filipino has the opportunity to secure their national ID.
