Despite difficulty in walking, a senior citizen visits PSA Aklan’s registration center in her wheelchair to register for the national ID.

Kalibo, Aklan – February 7, 2025 - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Aklan has registered 544,235 individuals in the National ID system as of 31 December 2024. This represents 88.43 percent of the population based on the 2020 Census of Population (CPH).

The registration covered all age groups, with the registration of children aged one to four piloted in February 2024, and infants below one year started registration in November of the same year.

During 2024, the provincial office conducted various mobile registrations, such as colocation at Family Development Sessions (FDS) organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), school-based registration, particularly at Child Development Centers (CDC), PhilSys on Wheels, and job fair programs in Kalibo. Of the 17 LGUs in Aklan, the municipality of Kalibo recorded the highest number of registrants, with 93,575 individuals (17.19%), followed by Malay with 53,392 registrants (9.81%), and Ibajay with 44,842 registrants (8.24%).

In terms of registration rate for the percentage of registrants compared to the 2020 target population, Kalibo also had the highest rate with 104.99 percent, followed by Altavas with 93.46 percent, and Tangalan with 89.62 percent. The three municipalities with the lowest
registration rates comprised New Washington (79.77%), Numancia (78.86%), and Balete (78.85%).

To further increase the registration rate in Aklan, the provincial office resumed its mobile registration last January 2025 to selected barangay and institution to encourage individuals to register in the national ID system. This is to promote broader participation, inclusivity, and convenience in the national ID registration process.
