12 November 2024 – KALIBO, AKLAN. Mr. Ken Vincent T. Tandog, a BS in Civil Engineering student of Aklan State University – Kalibo Campus copped the first place in the 28th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held at STI – Kalibo on October 25, 2024.
Mr. Tandog bested 26 other contestants from various colleges and universities in Aklan comprising Aklan Catholic College (ACC), Aklan State University (ASU) Ibajay, and New Washington, Libacao College of Science and Technology (LSCT), Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC), and STI College Kalibo. Mr. Tandog was coached by Engr. Joel I. Molas.
On the other hand, Ms. Yeojhea Yvette R. Lachica, a BS in Pharmacy student of Saint Gabriel College took the second place, while Mr. Ramon Chito M. Bautista, a BS in Biology student of Aklan State University – Main Campus got the third place.
Winners were awarded with a plaque of recognition, cash prize, and tokens given by Chief Statistical Specialist Antonet B. Catubuan of PSA Aklan, Supervising Statistical Specialist Rodelyn R. Panadero and SS II Alyssa Mae D. Berlandino, who also served as board of judges.
The PSQ is conducted for freshmen college students to encourage and reinforce the importance of statistics in decision-making, policy development, and other initiatives aimed at youth development.
It was held in celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month, with the theme: “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A road to an Empowered Nation”.
