TECHNICAL NOTES

Palay and Corn Production Survey. One of the quarterly agricultural surveys that provides estimates on palay and corn production, area, yield, and other production-related metrics. This data supports policymaking and program development for palay/rice and corn.

Production. Refers to the quantity produced and actually harvested during the reference period. This includes those harvested but damaged, stolen, given away, consumed, given as harvesters’ and threshers’ shares, reserved, etc.

Area Harvested. Refers to the total area from which palay or corn was harvested during the reference period. This area may be less than or equal to the total area planted.

Irrigated. Area with irrigation facilities supplying water through artificial means like gravity, force/power, pump, etc.

Rainfed. Area holds standing water but solely dependent on rainfall for its water supply.

White Corn. A type of corn used primarily for human consumption, regardless of color.

Yellow Corn. A type of corn primarily used as feed grains encompassing all varieties of corn other than white.
