01 March 2024 – GUIMARAS. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office successfully enumerated 48 Guimarasnons fifteen years old and over in the Labor Force Survey (LFS) February round.

Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare cited that the survey is essential for the labor welfare of every Filipino and, likewise, for the operation of the market-based economy.

“The 48 pre-identified sample households (HHs) successfully enumerated for this survey were from the three (3) Enumeration Areas (EAs) covering three (3) barangays,” Losare added.

Losare specified that in Jordan Municipality, the enumerators covered nineteen (19) Households (HHs) in Brgy. San Miguel, and two (2) Barangays in the Municipality of San Lorenzo, namely: Brgy. Cabano with 12 HHs and Brgy. Gaban with 16 HHs.

“Nine (9) replacements of the 48 pre-identified sample households were covered: three (3) were from the Municipality of Jordan, while six (6) came from San Lorenzo,” Losare confirmed.

Losare elaborated further that six (6) sample HHs in San Lorenzo were replaced with other samples because the addressee could not be located or had permanently moved out from the housing unit, and a single person occupying the housing unit had passed away.

The LFS is a household survey that measures the country's current labor market and is also used to calculate national and provincial employment and unemployment rates.

“The survey aimed at providing a quantitative framework for plans and policy formulation affecting the labor market. Likewise, involving the collection of labor and employment data, and it also gathers the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the labor force,” Losare said.

Losare also cited that the enumeration started on the 9th until the 29th of February 2024 through the efforts of the Hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) of PSA-Guimaras.

Meanwhile, Losare appreciated the support of all the sample households who provided accurate and reliable data, giving them the guarantee of utmost confidentiality.

“The data will be used solely as a reference for the levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment in the province, and all information gathered will be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for taxation, investigation, or regulation as provided under Article 55 of Republic Act 10625,” Losare clarified.
