22 July 2024– Guimaras. The five Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) in Guimaras (Jordan, Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag) were among the most outstanding LCROs in Western Visayas awarded by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
“The top 10 awardees were recognized during the 3rd Regional Midyear Convention on Civil Registration of Local Civil Registrars and staff in Western Visayas on July 18, 2024, at the Eagle’s Hotel, San Jose, Antique,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
The LCROs in Region VI were ranked and classified based on the volume of civil registry documents processed during the year and submitted to the PSA-Civil Registration Services, while the Selection of Outstanding LCRO Awardees were rated on activities undertaken during the period January to December 2022 based on the submitted Civil Registry Documents and Narrative Reports to the PSA-Provincial Offices and the Civil Registration Service.
“For the extra small category, LCRO Sibunag bagged the first place as the most outstanding Local Civil Registry Office in Western Visayas for 2022 while San Lorenzo was placed 5th,” Losare said.
Buenavista and Nueva Valencia, which fall under the medium category, got 8th and 9th place, respectively, while Jordan was ranked 6th in the extra-large category.
“We commend our partner LCROs for the job well done, and for providing timely and quality services to their clients aligned with the attainment of their mandate,” Losare said.
Losare expounded that under the Civil Registration category, the evaluation of activities in carrying out and administering the provisions of Act No. 3753- Law on Registry of Civil Status, were included.
Guided by integrity, accountability, accuracy, and reliability, the main objectives of the Local Civil Registry Office awards are to acknowledge the exemplary performance of the LCROs, encourage efficiency and productivity, innovativeness, and creativity, and initiatives in implementing the programs and activities relevant to the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics leading towards the attainment of the CRVS decade goal that by 2024 no one shall be left behind unregistered.
Likewise, PSO Losare cited that the convention carries the theme "CRVS: Paving the way to seamless services in Western Visayas” could address various issues crucial to civil registration systems, highlighting the importance of accurate and timely data collection. Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) play a pivotal role in governance and development and serve as the foundation for legal identity and access to public services.
“The convention served as a platform for stakeholders to share best practices, strategies, and innovations, exchanging ideas on new memoranda and civil registry laws, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of CRVS systems in Western Visayas,” Losare stated.
