
Headline inflation in Capiz steadily declined in June 2025, dropping to 0.4 percent from 0.9 percent in May. This is the lowest inflation rate recorded in the past twenty-four months, following the revision of the base year to 2018. In comparison, the inflation rate for June 2024 was significantly higher at 4.7 percent. The overall average inflation rate for Capiz for the year is now at 1.7 percent. In contrast, the average inflation rate for the Western Visayas region is higher at 2.3 percent, which is 0.5 percent above the national average inflation rate of 1.8 percent (see Figure 1, Table A, and Table D).
The decrease in inflation in Capiz can be attributed to a reduction in the heavily weighted category of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, which fell from 2.0 percent in May 2025 to 0.9 percent in June 2025. Additionally, the Health Commodity Group also declined, dropping from 1.2 percent in May 2025 to 0.7 percent in June 2025. The Recreation, Sports, and Culture Commodity Group experienced a decrease as well, falling from 2.3 percent in May 2025 to 2.0 percent in June 2025. Furthermore, the Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance category showed a slight decline, decreasing from 0.5 percent in May 2025 to 0.3 percent in June 2025. Clothing and Footwear continued to decrease, dropping from 2.0 percent in May 2025 to 1.9 percent in June 2025.

On the other hand, the Education Services sector experienced a notable increase, rising from 4.1 percent in May to 6.7 percent in June. Similarly, the Transport commodity group improved, with its figures rising from -3.9 percent in May 2025 to -2.6 percent in June 2025 (see Tables B and C).
Other commodity categories demonstrated minimal changes or remained stable during this period as follows.
1. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, -0.4 vs -0.4
2. Information and Communication, 0.0 percent vs 0.0
3.Restaurants and Accommodation, 0.1 percent vs 0.1 percent
4. Financial Services, 0.0 percent vs 0.0 percent

The most significant decrease in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Commodity Group was seen in the Rice category, which fell from 2.6 percent in May 2025 to -1.6 percent in June 2025. Similarly, the category of Ready-Made Food and Other Food Products (NEC) also experienced a decline, dropping from 4.9 percent to 0.6 percent during the same period. Additionally, prices for Fish and Other Seafood decreased from 1.1 percent in May 2025 to -0.1 percent in June 2025. Fruits and Nuts also saw a decline, with prices moving from -2.2 percent in May 2025 to -3.4 percent in June 2025. Oils and Fats decreased slightly, from 10.5 percent in May 2025 to 10.0 percent in June 2025. Sugar, Confectionery, and Desserts also experienced a minor drop, from 0.9 percent in May 2025 to 0.8 percent in June 2025.
On the other hand, a few food commodities within this group did experience price increases. Notably, the price of Meat and Other Parts of Slaughtered Animals rose from 0.8 percent in May 2025 to 2.2 percent in June 2025. Similarly, the prices of Vegetables, Tubers, Cooking Bananas, and Pulses increased from 5.7 percent in May 2025 to 5.9 percent in June 2025. Flour, Bread and Other Bakery Products, Pasta Products, and Other Cereals also saw an increase, rising from 2.1 percent in May 2025 to 2.3 percent in June 2025.
The annual rate for Non-alcoholic Beverages slightly increased from 0.5 percent in May 2025 to June 2025. Additionally, the rate for Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco also rose, moving from 1.7 percent in May 2025 to 1.8 percent in June 2025.
In addition, two food groups experienced no change in inflation compared to the previous month:
1. Corn, 0.2 vs 0.2
2. Milk, Other Dairy Products, and Eggs, 1.8 percent vs. 1.8 percent
