REGISTERED DEATHS RECORDED AT 1,344 AT Q1
The number of deaths registered in Capiz has generally increased over the past five years. The highest number of deaths was recorded in 2022, with 1,484 deaths. The lowest number of deaths was recorded in 2020, with 1,276 deaths. The number of deaths increased from 2020 to 2021, then decreased slightly in 2022 before increasing again in 2023 and 2024. (Figure 1)
In a span of five (5) years, the deaths registered in Capiz increased by 8.15 percent from 1,276 to 1,380 in first quarter of 2020 and 2024, respectively.
TOTAL DEATHS AND PLACE OF OCCURRENCE
As shown in Figure 2 and Table 1, the number of deaths registered in the province in the reference quarter indicates a daily average occurrence of 46 deaths every day. The number of deaths registered in almost all LGUs in the province declined from 2023 to 2024. (Figure 2)
As expected, Roxas City accounted for the highest number of registered deaths, with 515 or 37.3 percent of the total. This represents a mere decrease of 1.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023. The municipalities of Pontevedra and Mambusao followed behind, with 145 and 93 deaths, accounting for 10.5 and 6.7 percent each, respectively. Maayon had the lowest number of deaths with only 28 registrations, representing a mere 2.0 percent share of the total registered deaths in the province.
Of the sixteen municipalities and sole city in Capiz, only the municipalities of Cuartero and Dumalag exhibited an increase in registered deaths during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023. Notably, the municipality of Cuartero recorded the highest growth with 50.0 percent and Dumalag recorded with 22.9 percent.
MONTH OF OCCURENCE
Figure 3 below illustrates the monthly distribution of deaths. January was the busiest month of the quarter, with 527 registered deaths. This translates to a daily average of 17 deaths.
March had the lowest number of registered deaths in the first quarter of 2024, with only 410. This translates to a daily average of 13.2, or approximately 13 deaths per day during the month lower compared to the daily average of 16 deaths in the same reference period. (Table 2)
