‘Batang PhilSys’ of the Philippine Statistics Authority—Antique, also known as Yumi, is a 10-month-old baby who successfully registered for her national ID and received her ePhilID on the same day after registration.
She is the daughter of PhilSys personnel and is among the first infants to undergo the registration process as part of the new initiative to include Filipino children aged 0 to 11 months in the National ID system.
In connection with this, the PSA has recently expanded its registration efforts to include babies under one year old, marking a significant milestone in the nationwide roll-out of the PhilSys. This step is aimed at ensuring that even the youngest citizens are registered in the system from birth, allowing them to enjoy the benefits of a National ID from an early age.
Parents and guardians can now register their infants at designated PhilSys registration centers across the province. During registration, only the infant's demographic information and front-facing photograph will be collected. Complete biometric information including iris and finger prints will be captured once the infant reaches the age of five. The infant's PhilSys Number (PSN) will be linked to the PSN of the parent or guardian. Hence, parent or guardian needs to bring their PhillD cards or e PhillDs.
The PhilSys aims to provide each Filipino and resident alien with a unique and permanent identification number, serving as a reliable proof of identity for a range of government and private transactions.
The expansion to infants is expected to help improve social welfare programs, health services, and education initiatives, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind as the country moves toward a more digitized and inclusive future.
