The students of Antique National School bagged the first place in the Statistics Quiz for Junior High School Provincial Elimination on 12 October at Eagle’s Hotel, San Jose, as part of the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration.
Moreover, out of 15 schools who competed, Barbaza NHS garnered 2nd place, and Antique Vocational School was hailed 3rd place. All three schools will compete in the regional elimination to be held on 17 October 2024, at NEDA Region VI, Iloilo City.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Antique and the Provincial Government of Antique through the Provincial Planning and Development Office organized the JHS Provincial Elimination Statistics Quiz and also in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).
The annual Statistics Quiz for JHS students aims to assess the competency and skills of students in statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum; to promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of science, Statistics in particular, among the students; and to generate public awareness on the importance of Statistics in all development-planning activities and win overall support for all government statistical activities. Results of the contest can also provide indications of the effectiveness of the Statistics component of Mathematics as a subject of the secondary curriculum.
