NUMBER OF ESTABLISHMENTS IN CAPIZ INCREASED IN 2023

Based on the 2023 Updating of the List of Establishments (ULE), the province of Capiz had 9,533 establishments in operation, representing 11.1 percent of the region's total of 85,644 establishments. This marked an increase from 2021, when Capiz recorded 7,958 establishments, accounting for 10.8 percent of the region’s total of 73,715 establishments. (Table 1)

Negros Occidental had the highest number of establishments in the region, with 20,228 establishments comprising 23.6 percent of the regional share, followed by the province of Iloilo with 17,644 establishments, accounting for 20.6 percent share and City of Bacolod with 12,972 establishments representing15.1 percent.

WHOLESALE AND RETAIL TRADE, REPAIR OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND MOTORCYCLES IS THE LARGEST INDUSTRY IN CAPIZ 

In Capiz, most businesses operated in the Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles sector, with 4,931 establishments accounting for 51.7 percent  share. This was followed by the Manufacturing sector, which had 1,254 establishments comprising for 13.2 percent share, and the Accommodation and Food Service Activities sector, with 1,249 establishments with 13.1 percent. (Table 2)

In terms of employment, the largest industry was also Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles, with 18,289 people (42.8 percent). This was followed by Accommodation and Food Service Activities with 5,162 employees (12.1 percent) and Manufacturing with 4,715 employees (11.0 percent).

MOST ESTABLISHMENTS RECORDED AT THE CITY OF ROXAS

With 3,462 establishments, the City of Roxas continued to be the province with the most number of establishments in Capiz. These establishments made up 36.3 percent of all establishments in the province. This was followed by the municipality of Tapaz with 660 establishments comprising 6.9 percent share. Mambusao came in third with 561 establishments contributing 5.9 percent. (Figure 1)

CITY OF ROXAS ESTABLISHMENTS EMPLOYED THE MOST

The City of Roxas recorded with the highest total employment with 22,126 people in establishments which accounted for 51.8 percent of all employment in Capiz. Tapaz, which has 5,522 total employment of establishments and a 5.9 percent share, came second. With 1,848 total employment of establishments and a 4.3 percent share contribution, the municiapality of Mambusao ranked third. The lowest number of employments of operational establishments were: Sapi-an with 491 and a share of 1.2 percent;  Ma-ayon with 617 and 1.4 percent share; and Pilar with 804 with a 1.9 percent share (Figure 2).
