In June 2024, the Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office (IPSO) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), initiated the 2023 Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS). This survey aims to generate comprehensive and reliable information on household energy consumption, practices, and preferences. The major data items collected were the following: household characteristics, housing characteristics, household income, energy sources and details, household practices and attitudes on the use of energy sources, and awareness of energy issues.

Ten hired personnel, consisting of 2 Team Supervisors and 8 Statistical Researchers, went through a 5-day training from June 10 to 14, 2024 in preparation for the field enumeration which commenced on June 17, 2024, and is anticipated to end on July 19, 2024. For this project, interviews will be conducted with 405 sample households in the City of Iloilo and 389 sample households in the Province of Iloilo.

In line with this, the PSA encourages all the sample households, individuals, and barangays to take part in the 2023 HECS by providing truthful and accurate information.
