Fisheries Production in Western Visayas Second Quarter of 2023

The total fisheries production in Western Visayas in the second quarter of 2023 was estimated at 93,993 metric tons (MT). The production decreased by 0.27 percent or about 252 MT less from the same quarter of 2022's reported volume of production. The decrease was mainly attributed to the commercial and marine municipal fisheries sector with 17.08 percent and 9.22 percent decrease, respectively. Similarly, inland fisheries decreased by 21.73 percent. However, the aquaculture sector's volume of production increased by 14.91 percent or by 6,235 MT.

Palay Production in Western Visayas Second Quarter of 2023

The total palay production of Western Visayas in the second quar6ter of 2023 was estimated at 129,475.94 metric tons (MT). It decreased by 3.82 percent or 5,142.82 MT less compared with the same quarter of 2022. Likewise, the total area harvested in the second quarter of 2023, is estimated at 41, 833.00 hectares (ha) was 7.51 percent lower compared with the same quarter last year.

2022 NDHS Result in Western Visayas: HIV Knowledge, Chronic and Infectious Diseases, Women Empowerment and Domestic Violence

Results show that 97% of women aged 15 to 49 in Western Visayas have heard of HIV or AIDS. Among those who have heard of HIV or AIDS, 66% of women are knowledgeable that using condom can prevent HIV or AIDS. Moreover, 68% said that limiting sex to one partner can prevent the transmission of disease.

2022 NDHS Result in Western Visayas: Maternal Health, Child Status, Childhood Mortality

In Western Visayas, the percentage of women with a live birth two years preceding the survey who received antenatal care from a skilled provider increased from 84% in 1993 to 97% in 2022. Further, women who had four or more ANC visits increased from 47% in 1993 to 86% in 2022. Also, the percentage of women with a live birth who had ANC in the first trimester continuously increased from 35% in 1993, to 62% in 2017, and 66% in 2022.
