- The population of Negros Occidental as of August 1,2015 was 2,497,261 (Excluding Bacolod City), based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015.)
- The 2015 population is higher by 101,222 as compared to the population of 2.4 million in 2010, and 360,614 compared to the population of 2.1 million in 2000. Refer to Table 1.

- The Population of Negros Occidental increased by 0.79 percent annually, on the average during the period 2010 to 2015. By comparison, the rate at which the province population grew during the period 2000-2010 was higher at 1.15 percent.

- The province of Negros Occidental is composed of one highly urbanized city, 12 component cities, and 19 municipalities. Table 3 shows, the top ten cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental (excluding Bacolod City). Topped cities include City of Kabankalan with 181, 977 persons, followed by Bago City and Cadiz City with the population of 170,981 and 154, 723 persons respectively.
