- The population of Negros Occidental as of August 1,2015 was 2,497,261 (Excluding Bacolod City), based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015.)
- The 2015 population is higher by 101,222 as compared to the population of 2.4 million in 2010, and 360,614 compared to the population of 2.1 million in 2000. Refer to Table 1.

- The province of Negros Occidental is composed of one highly urbanized city, 12 component cities, and 19 municipalities. Table 3 shows, the top ten cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental (excluding Bacolod City). Topped cities include City of Kabankalan with 181, 977 persons, followed by Bago City and Cadiz City with the population of 170,981 and 154, 723 persons respectively.

- As shown in Table 4, Municipality of Candoni carries the least populous city/municipality in the province of Negros Occidental with 21,879 persons. The second least populous was San Enrique with the total population of 23,907 and the third is Salvador Benedicto with the total population of 25,662.
