Inflation rate in the province of Antique rises further to 8.3 percent in July 2022, from 7.2 percent in June 2022. The recorded inflation rate in July 2021 was significantly lower at 3.3 percent. The average inflation rate of the province for the first seven months of the year was 6.3 percent. This month’s provincial inflation rate was comparably higher to the recorded national and regional inflation rates. The headline inflation of Antique continues to rise to 7.2 percent in June 2022, from 6.7 percent in May 2022. Inflation rate in June 2021 was lower at 3.0 percent. The headline inflation of Antique increased further to 6.7 percent in May 2022, from 6.3 percent in April 2022. This is the highest recorded inflation since January 2019. Inflation rate in May 2021 was lower at 3.5 percent. The average inflation rate for the first five months of the year in Antique was 5.7 percent. The headline inflation of the Philippines, moreover, stood at 5.4 percent in May 2022. This is higher as compared to the national inflation rate of 4.9 percent in April 2022, and 4.1 percent in May 2021. Also, the regional inflation rate of Western Visayas for May 2022 was 5.9 percent. In months of May to June 2022, Field Interviewers from the Philippine Statistics Authority will be visiting about 352 sample households in the province of Antique for the 2022 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS). The 2022 NDHS is a national sample survey designed to provide indicators on fertility, fertility preferences, family planning practice, childhood mortality, maternal and child health, knowledge and attitude regarding HIV/AIDS, and violence against women. It is the 12th in a series of national demographic and health surveys conducted in the Philippines every five years since 1968. The Philippine Statistics Authority will conduct a month-long survey called the Women and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Development Index or WIDI from January 31 up to the last week of February 2022 covering 390 sample households throughout the province of Antique. The survey aims to gather baseline data on women and girls in terms of access, use, and skills in ICTs. The information that will be obtained from the survey is essential for the government to craft appropriate evidence-based policies and programs to help women and girls in the productive use of ICTs. Baseline indicators from the survey results shall reveal the different roles of women relative to technology use and shall present opportunities for their active participation in the ICT sector, leading to empowerment.
